James Iha News Archives
New York label Swill Children is continuing their ongoing split seven-inch series with a split between Montreal's Dead Wife and New York's own Hunters. The track from Hunters is called "Deadbeat," which was produced by one-time Smashing Pumpkin James Iha and mixed by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner.
Without knowing about the high-profile knob-twiddlers, this track is a bass-heavy, mid-tempo stomper that occupies a similar modern grunge terrain as Olympia bands like Gun Outfit and Milk Music. The track is definitely produced well, and there is a thick blanket of feedback that suggests Iha's presence, but the alt-rock luminaries involved are far from the selling point of "Deadbeat."

Here is a the part of the recent interview that mentioned James Iha and TSP. Thanks to Kendra for posting this on the jamesiha.org boards.
Interviewer: I saw the Smashing Pumpkins recently. It felt like Billy [Corgan] was rushing to get some of his more well-known songs out of the way so he could play the new stuff. Can you relate to that kind of feeling?
Maynard: No, no. I mean, especially since James Iha’s not in the band, I can’t really relate to the fact that Smashing Pumpkins are out there.
The three-night shows will be in Phoenix (Marquee Theatre), Los Angeles (Avalon), Seattle (Showbox at The Market) and San Francisco (The Fillmore). A two-night show will be played in Las Vegas (The Pearl), featuring Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step.
The band is scheduled to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 27.
Update (6/8/10): James appears on the track "You Won't Let Me Down Again." (Guide magazine)
