F.01 Abstract (Document Summary) The Smashing Pumpkins' new album "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" has garnered critical and commercial acclaim, but it's a difficult time. Seven weeks ago, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin was with the Pumpkins' touring keyboardist the night of his death from a drug overdose. Chamberlin was subsequently arrested for heroin possession and fired from the band. "Listening to drums all day is totally boring," guitarist James Iha sighed before resuming the tour in Las Vegas on Tuesday night. The Smashing Pumpkins will perform at McNichols Arena tonight.
