James Iha to Co-produce America Album |

America in 2008 is a far different proposition than in the late '60s. And I'm not just talking about the country, I'm talking about the harmony-heavy, folk-rock group America that sprang out of England (they were all sons of U.S. servicemen stationed in London) during the height of California's flower-power era and often criticized for being lightweight CSNY wannabes. America, now made up of just two original members in the form of singer-guitarists Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley after Dan Peek left in the 1977 to become a born-again Christian, got a major credibility boost last year. Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha and Fountains Of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger decide to co-produce the group's first album of original material in nine years, Here And Now, corralling critically acclaimed singer-songwriters Ryan Adams and Ben Kweller as guests.
